Boiled Eggs. Selling. Washing Machines. What do these things have in common? Go to the head of the class if you guessed hard or soft.
Over the years, there has been quite a bit of confusion regarding the choice of machine type for a commercial laundry. Unless the laundry was on an upper floor, conventional wisdom said choose a hardmount commercial washer due to the lower perceived pricing of a hardmount.

We’ve come a long way since the clothesline. Now instead of lugging wet, heavy laundry outside to dry in the breeze we can pop our clothes into our handy tumble dryers and have them dry in no time. As easy and convenient as tumble dryers are they come with their own set of problems as they don’t handle delicate goods very well at all. Enter the drying cabinet. Used in Europe for decades, these ingenious machines allow for drying of goods that can’t handle the rigors of the traditional tumble dryer. In the past dirty turnout gear was a sign of an experienced firefighter. Today we know that dirty gear is full of toxins and can be dangerous. Having soot and other surface dirt on the outside of the gear puts the firefighter at risk because dirty PPE is more likely to conduct heat and become flammable. If the dirt and soot is covering the reflective trim then the firefighter may not be visible during the course of a fire. (more…)

Introduction
In recent years, there has been quite a bit of talk around ozone in a commercial laundry setting. Many have tried to sell ozone as a one size fits all solution, solving all problems and completely eliminating hot water and chemical usage. While there is reduction in hot water and chemical usage, ozone will not eliminate hot water or chemical usage entirely, as ozone is only effective on water soluble stains. (more…)

A typical commercial on premise laundry is a system of machines, including washers, dryers, ironers, and folders working together with water heaters, boilers, water softeners, chemical dispensing systems and more to provide a large quantity of laundered goods in a reasonable amount of time using the minimum amounts of energy, labor, and time. In a large part, the interaction between these different systems determines determines how efficiently this process can happen. (more…)
